OG Kush was first cultivated in Florida, in the early ‘90s when a strain from Northern California was crossed with a Hindu Kush plant from Amsterdam. The result was a hybrid with a unique Terps profile that boasts a complex aroma with notes of fuel, skunk, and spice.
Strong mental and physical high
OG Kush is an extremely strong cannabis strain, with most experienced smokers listing it as one of their favourites. The effect is as strong physically as it is mentally. Though its effect is like an Sativa, the strain’s genetics are mostly Indica. The effect is as strong and complex as the flavour. OG Kush takes around 8 weeks to flower and on average the yield is 500 grams per plant.
The term ‘OG Kush’ is generic; you’ll mostly see it attached to various phenotypes and hybrids like Tahoe OG, Jedi Kush, Ghost’s OG, etc. There’s not only some question as to the origin of the strain, but also its name; some claim that ‘OG’; stands for ‘ocean grown,’ while others say it’s ‘OG’ as in ‘original’ or ‘original gangsta.’ But lineage and terminology aside, the general characteristics you should look for are a strong piney/lemony-cedar scent mixed with fresh-turned spring soil and a hint of rubber, like a new pencil eraser or pair of skate shoes. Anything less isn’t worth putting in your pipe. The fresh-soil-and-pine flavor really comes through in most phenotypes, with varying degrees of tartness.
